Best for
With kids
ATV rides through Mayon's lava fields are thrilling for older kids and teens. Cagsawa Ruins is a short walk with a spectacular backdrop. Sumlang Lake kayaking is calm and suitable for young children. Mayon's imposing presence is awe-inspiring for children of all ages.
With seniors
Legazpi City is flat and manageable. Cagsawa Ruins and Sumlang Lake are very accessible for seniors. ATV rides are not suitable for seniors with back issues. Lignon Hill viewpoint offers excellent Mayon views with minimal exertion. Legazpi has good hospitals.

Domestic. Philippine ID required. Monitor PHIVOLCS for Mayon's alert level before planning — eruption alerts affect access to lava fields.
When to go
Best: Nov–Apr (dry season, clearest Mayon views). Avoid: Jun–Oct (monsoon, Mayon often cloud-covered, typhoon risk in Bicol).

Direct flights MNL→Legazpi (LGP): Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines. Flight time ~1 hr. Multiple daily departures. Also reachable by bus from Manila (8–10 hrs) via overnight Bicol bus.
