Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is Vietnam's commercial and culinary engine — chaotic, electric, and addictively vibrant. The Mekong Delta day trip delivers a completely different Vietnam: sampan boats threading through floating markets, dragon fruit orchards, and honey bee farms. Cu Chi Tunnels and the War Museum provide powerful historical context.

Best for
With kids
Cu Chi Tunnels are exciting for kids 10+ who can crawl through narrow tunnels. Mekong Delta: coconut candy making, boat rides, and fresh tropical fruits. Ben Thanh Market is a colorful sensory experience. Use Grab for all transport — HCMC traffic is intense.
With seniors
HCMC is mostly flat — easy to navigate. Grab taxis are affordable and air-conditioned. The War Museum has some graphic exhibits. Mekong Delta tours involve boat steps — not ideal for mobility-limited seniors. Excellent budget hotels with good facilities in District 1.
